RapidScan Tally System
Sierra RapidScan is a Patented End-Tally system for use in Measuring and Counting
Lumber.

The concept of tallying is based on measuring lumber by a laser-beam and a special ruler. Sierra DigiTally operator simply holds the RapidScan ruler and fires
a laser-beam. That's all. There is no need to manually read the
width from the ruler and then enter it -- this outdated 2-step process is not only
slower but can cause errors when reading and entering data. With the
RapidScan method, the same value that is measured is the same value that is scanned
and saved. And, there are no cables to complicate the operation, no attachments to
make it cumbersome or heavy. Flexible steel ruler is easy to move across the
pack.
By a single trigger-action, the RapidScan system performs all of the following tasks:
- Measure
- Count
- Compute BF (or M3)
- Compute Totals
- Compute Average Length (Pack)
- Compute Average Width (Pack)
And, all of the above happens within one second.
Tallying lumber with Sierra DigiTally RapidScan system is easy, fast, and accurate.
Today's modern warehouse/yard operator simply scans boards across the pack.
There is nothing to read or enter, it's just pointing and shooting the scan-gun. Once the pack is tallied, operator can print barcoded labels. Data that is collected
is also sent to a desktop PC via wireless network or through the device cradle connection.
